The Blitz is the name of the sustained bombing of London and other important bristish cities by the Germans between 7th of September 1940 and 10th of May 1941 during World War II. By the end of May 1941, over 43,000 civilians, half of them in London, had been killed by the bombs and more than a million houses were destroyed or damaged in London let alone. The british people never lost their spirit though and somehow managed to continue their daily life. 

The period also sparked new social laws as the poverty of the big cities became evident to a broader part of the population, especially in the country side.
